few questions about multiple SSIDs

Go to solution Solved by samcool55,

what's the point of multiple SSIDs?

Multiple SSID's are useful in locations where you want certain devices isolated from each other.

In a school for example you could put students on one network, guests on another and teachers on another one. You might want to do this to manage who is allowed to do what.

do I lose something when I create multiple SSIDs?

Not really, but if you don't need to, don't create them, it makes it more difficult to manage.

am I getting slower speed if I create multiple ssids?

In theory yes, but it's so small you won't notice it. It's even difficult to measure.

does every router supports multi SSIDs?

No, it's mainly a commercial thing or high-end routers. The average house router can't do that.
