Gtx 1080 ti on a 4th gen desktop

I run games at 1440p, on a 4790k (4.6 all cores) + gtx 1080 ftw2 + 16gb ddr3 2400 setup, and I gotta tell you pal, the CPU does bottleneck the GPU in many scenarios at 1440p. And in my case it's a 1080, not a 1080 ti like you want. If you go with a 4k monitor instead, you'll have less to worry about CPU. I'm waiting to see if Intel will be bringing an 8 core CPU to the mainstream this year so I can go an upgrade all parts, and so should you if you're getting the 1080 ti. For now, the best out there for gaming will be the 8700k if you are asking yourself that.

Maybe so, but with all the vulnerabilities that are being found on Intel, I'd rather stick with Ryzen.
