Hi!

Recently, I'm having some difficulties with my memory overclock. I am using a Trident Z RGB 16GB rated at 3000 MHz. I overclocked my memory using the D.O.C.P. presets ( as I'm using an Asus motherboard with a Ryzen CPU), that set my memory at 3000 MHz at 1.35 Volts. Only recently, my PC is failing to boot, as I am getting the error message during POST that says that my memory overclock failed and settings have been reset.

I tried reducing the speed to 2933 MHz, the PC booted, but the next day, the same thing happened. I increased the voltage to 1.36 V, the PC booted and again after a few boots, the overclock failed. Since then, I have gradually increased the voltage, and now I am running at 1.41 V at 2933 to make the overclock stable.

Anybody knows what's happening here? I don't want to increase the voltage any further and I don't want to decrease the speed either as Ryzen CPUs are heavily affected by memory speeds. Also, my memory is rated at 3000 MHz and it used to run at that speed.

PS- I checked the stability using AIDA64 each time after increasing the voltage, for about 1.3 hrs, still, the overclock would fail after a few boots.

Seems clear the ram can't handle it. Bring it back to stock and be happy it works

yeah but, it used to handle that speed for more that 8 months or so. Is it some kind of degradation issue?

Seems probable, the OC'ing did damage to the ram and now it' can't handle the speed you want.

Does the room temperature vary much? Heat can affect stability so that is a random thought. Don't know where you are but 8 months ago would have been cooler. Also try giving the system a dusting if needed.

I never thought about that but temps might be an issue. I'll try adjusting the fan curves and see if that changes anything.

And as far as dust goes, it shouldn't be a problem as I disassembled and cleaned the entire rig 2 weeks ago.
