EVGA Warranty?

I'm looking to buy a GPU (GTX 1080ti FTW3) used off eBay, the seller told me it was used for mining buy I've seen on other forums that EVGA has second hand warranties, but when I went to check on EVGA's site, it says they don't support second hand warranties and need a receipt or proof of purchase. Here is the site: https://www.evga.com/support/warranty/originalWarranty.asp so does EVGA support second hand warranties or not?

The warranty stays with the product not the owner for EVGA. They are usually 3 year warranties so I wouldn't really buy it considering new cards in just a month or so

You should probably wait another 2 weeks for computex now, either ways the Pascal line up gets a tad cheaper if something is announced or not... I personally think we might not even have aftermarket Turing cards this year yet if they appear at all only some FE before all out of stock much like Core i7 8700K was last year... A product that literally got released out of stock.

Generally speaking yeas, if all the warranty stickers are there and you have original packing and serial numbers intact you should be able to get a replacement should it breaks.

 

That is until the warranty is valid for the product.

There is a whole thread on OCN about how EVGA has been rejecting warranties for the flimsiest reasons. I've been boycotting them for a couple of years because they refused to respond to my emails about an excessive shipping charge that turned out to be due to outrageously excessive packaging. People start chiming in later in the thread about the problems they had.

I don't buy cheap stuff either but I've still had stuff fail or even are DOA (such as the Samsung 4TB 850 EVO SSD that was DOA; it was a darned good thing the vendor's warranty covered it). I had a WD Green start to fail on my just before the warranty was expired and WD replaced it.

Given the actual failure rate of products compared to how many are produced and sold, you would need to be lucky to even get one.

No I’m going used as new is $1,500 and if Nvidia doesn’t do anything at computex then I’ll buy a card of eBay make sure it’s from evga so I can get a warranty, but if they do something st computex, then I’ll try to grab a new card if possible

Im sure they wont. They tend to do reveals by them self, not at other places. Even if they do announce it, it will be a few months out. They you have to try and get a new card. Which will be reference, which some people like to bitch about like its a different gpu. Everyone will want it. Will prolly be worse then when the card prices shot up and all the poor folk cried about it.

Also buying a used card from evga doesn't guaranteed a warranty. If the seller is serious, they should show you the status of the warranty assuming its already registered.
