Arctis 5 or HD 580?

So I dug up an old pair of Sennheiser 580 Precision in my basement and was wondering if I should swap my Arctis 5. I'm not an audiophile, but if there's a night and day difference then I'll probably do it. One question I do have is if the 580s will make things such as footsteps easier to hear. Thanks!

Audio quality is hugely subjective when it comes to headphones. You need to try yourself. We can't decide this for you.

 

On another note, there shouldn't be any technology in the HD580's that make footsteps easier to hear. It'll probably have a very different frequency response compared to the Arctis 5, for better or for worse. Again, only you can decide.

True, audio is subjective. I feel kinda stupid making this thread now lol.

 

On a bit of a different note, is it worth spending around $15 for new earcups and a new headband? Or is even the whole headset not even worth that much anymore?

Not if it doesn't work or you don't like it. If they do and you do, definitely.

Out of curiosity, how much is the headset itself worth? Besides the earcups being completely worn out, it's in great condition.

over 100 easily they are still great headphones

many collectors would love to take them off your hands
