Hi,

Just being trying to build a decent workstation / occasional gaming rig for a mate.

The budget is around $1500 AUD mark.

The primary applications he will be running are Autodesk Revit , CAD , Photoshop , Lumion and maybe Adobe Premiere.

So of course I went with the i7 8700k because most of these applications are CPU intensive like rendering and encoding.

GPU wise I thought between 1050ti or 1060 3gb card for occasional gaming at 1080p high / medium settings and because of GPU prices are through the roof at the moment.

What do you guys think of this build?

I may wait to see if Cannonlake brings an 8 core, as that would be the best. But if you need it now then 8700k should be fine, since ADOBE products tend to be buggy on AMD hardware depending on the effects you use.
