does gpu tempature effect fps?

so on my laptop when i start a game it runs perfectly smooth on my 144hz monitor. But the temp rises to about 85C max and at about 75C games start to lag even though im still above 144 fps. Do temps effect video smoothness?

@overturnedv1 Yes if the temperature of a GPU gets to high it will thermal throttle and this is proberbly why ur seeing some lag.

try lowering your resolution, and it should reduce the stuttering.

you may want to find a method to cool your laptop:

Temperatures will affects your boost clocks, which does affect your FPS, so yes.

 

Consider undervolting your laptop and maybe find a cooling pad for it. Undervolting alone can easily drop your temperatures by 10c at least.
