Razer Tiamat 7.1 need sound card

Alfie_Assassin

I have the Razer Tiamat 7.1, but i'm using it with the Intel HD sound on my motherboard, which is weak at best. Is it worth it me getting a somewhat decent soundcard?

as the Intel HD gives me hissing even on my desktop speakers so I might just get a sound card to get rid of it.

Any suggestions?

You dont need a soundcard/dac or anything for that headset.

The hiss might be interference from the environment youre in, my speakers have a slight hiss, even if they arent plugged into anything, you plug the headset via front panel or rear I/O?

No but i meant the headset, if youre using front IO, switch and use rear IO and the hissing from the headset will most probably go away, for the speakers u cant do much

Looking online, others have got rid of hissing using a soundcard, might it be worth getting a cheaper card like 50 pounds?

If you don't like your onboard, and you want to keep your "real" 7.1 headset, then yes, try a cheap soundcard.

What do you mean by "real"?

So after messing about with these, some games are great with this, Battlefield gives huge base and the explosions are awesome. Games like CS:GO don't work too well, need more work on that, its fine in 2.1 mode though.

Messing with the crossover for bass made most things sound really nice now so I'm happy so I will put off the soundcard. Music sounds good too (for a gaming headset) after configuring, really good for base heavy songs.

Hey man I have the same headset! Love it to  pieces. I would spend the money to get like a 50 dollar sound card. It makes it totally worth it!

I have the Asus Xonar DS 7.1 sound card. Works really well. I also  haven't  had any trouble with the software as many people might have.

Anything will be better then on-board. I hope you like them as much as I do!

anything?  Like, no sound at all?

Is there any particular reason this soundcard might be a major improvement at the cost of $50 and a single pci-e slot on his motherboard?  Cause both the onboard and the soundcard will play the same game audio and music.  The headset is the "bottleneck" - if you can call it that, not his onboard.

My jimmies are rustled - bottlenecking does not apply to audio outside of impedance mismatch.

Make sure you put them in the right settings in csgo.Go to audio settings there and choose what fits best for you.

When I say anything will be better I mean anything over 50 dollars as an audio card add on. It will improve your audio quality a hell of a lot from straight on-board. Especially if you don't have a really nice mobo.
