Platform update.

Go to solution Solved by Fasade,

After a late night search I decided to change my case because it doesn't fit correctly a dual fan AIO because why not, I can sell my current one afterwards.

Current build though:

CPU: i7 8700k

Cooler: NZXT Kraken X62

MOBO: Asus Rog Strix Z370-F Gaming

Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB @3200MHz

Case: NZXT S340 Elite

PSU: I might keep my current one.

Hello, I am about to change platform because my MOBO has started malfunctioning. Any suggestions on my picks for parts will be appreciated.

CPU: i7 8700k

Cooler: NZXT Kraken X42

MOBO: Asus Rog Strix Z370-H Gaming

Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB @3200MHz

PSU: I am looking at a Corsair RMx750(2018)

EDIT: SSD, HDD, Case and GPU are already on my current PC.

GPU: GTX 1070
SSD: 850 evo

Add an M.2 SSD (probably Samsung 860 Evo 250 GB)

Get a decent sized HDD if you need one, probably WD Blue

Get a nice piece of plywood and drill your mobo to that    /s

Get a 1060 6GB or even better a 1070 or even better (and so on) if you can afford it. Good CPU calls for good GPU :)

My profile picure is real. That's what I look like in real life. I'm actually a blue and white African Wild Dog.

Ryzen 9 5900X - MSI Ventus 2x OC 3060 Ti - 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHz CL16 - ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming ITX/ax

EVGA CLC 280 + 2x140mm NF-A14 - Samsung 850 EVO 500GB + WD Black SN750 1TB - Windows 11/10 - EVGA Supernova G3 1000W

I should have said that I already have those things. :)

What platform are you on, and what are you doing with the PC?

Assuming an 8700K makes sense:

Don't get the X42. Don't get any 120mm AiO. A good air cooler will perform the same, while being quieter and more reliable. Or get a high end ≥280mm AiO.

The Z370H is really crap and very overpriced. Change it to something like an Extreme4, Prime-A or Strix-F.

750W is way overkill. A system with a 1080 Ti Will draw under 400W.

:)

I'm on an i5 2500k, mainly gaming but occasionally content creation hence the i7 and it's a bit future proof.

From your opinion I am changing the MOBO to a Strix-F since I compared them.

The X42 is a 140mm and it's more of a visual upgrade, I'm gonna be OCing the i7 and I don't thing the Coolermaster 212 evo that I have now is enough.

About the psu I know it's overkill but it's 15 euros more than the Corsair RM550X so it's kinda worth it.

If you plan to overclock, get a better aio. A Corsair H100i v2 perhaps. If you don't plan on overclocking a locked cpu on a B360 or H370 motherboard would be better.

No need for an RMx 750W, especially with a GTX 1070. A CM450M will do a good job. Or get something like a Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 550W.

I just searched it and the only way for a H100i to fit my case "Corsair 230t" is to put the fans outside the case "sigh" and that looks horrible.

Then consider something like the Noctua NH-D15 or be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4.
