so im looking to get a ups for my home.  My question is i know that they have a battery built.  the reason why i would like to get one is that when i have a power outtage which has been happening a bit more often latley, if i plug in just my cable modem and router, will i still have internet?  the modem is from cablevision or whatever they call them selves these days and the router is a linksys velop system.  the ups im looking at is one from apc.  I will link it here.  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0779LDRWZ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1  Also around how much time would i get with a ups of this calibur?  just going to be running the modem and router off of the battery part.

thanks

Depends on where the power outage is and what all is affected, normally yes, but if the isp losses power to their equipment you don't have internet. Also things like switches need power aswell.

For just a modem/router this is way overkill, something like a 100va model will be fine. You will probably get a few hours from this ups with that very low power load(modems and routers don't use much power)

You probably want something like this here https://www.amazon.com/APC-Back-UPS-Connect-BGE90M-Charging/dp/B00NTQYUA8/ref=sr_1_8?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1526151414&sr=1-8&keywords=apc+ups

You just need your modem and router connected to still have internet during a power outage but for the run time that will taper off since your using a dairly high wattage USP for such low power draw devices. Most cases you will get around 2 hours of run time from that, you want to match the UPS to the size of the load your going to be using on it balancing power output and run time.

APC does make a 12V UPS unit which you might want to look into for powering networking equipment for extended outages.
