So I am going to be building my first pc in like a month or so, the specs are ryzen 2400g, b350 mb, 240 team t group ssd 3d, 550 watt modular psu from Roswell, versa h18 case. I am struggling to figure out what kind of ram I should put in however. On neweggs website it says max ram supported is 2933, but I am thinking of putting a 8 gig kit of ddr4 3000 speed to start with (2x4). I can not afford to put in 2933. I know the apu is power hungry for speed. If i would put a kit of 3000 speed in it, will it run at that speed without overclocking it or would i have to go with 2666? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

A 3000MHz kit will run at 2133 until you over click it. Then you can set it to the speed and timings you want.

im sorry for sounding stupid but may i ask why it does that? If i bought a kit say a 2666 which is below the max compatible would that run at its speed?

The speed listed on the box is the speed at which the RAM was verified to run. Not the speed it runs at. So any DDR4 kit will run at the standard 2133MHz.

Most kits have XMP profiles that work with Intel motherboards and when enabled overclock the memory to the specified speed and timings for you.

Since you're running AMD you'll have to set it up manually. Not a big deal. Set the voltage to 1.35v and the timings and frequency to that listed on the box.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Ok, thanks. I dont really know how to overclock the ram but im sure i can figure it out. That wont harm my system by shortening the life of it will it? I also dont want to void any warrentys i might get with it.

Tons of guides on YouTube that walk you through it. Worth learning as the APU will benefit from overclocking as well.

Awesome, thanks, one more question, if i would over clock the whole system(cpu, igpu, ram etc) will that degrade the lifespan of the components? I hear tons of rumors that it can make say your chip if you overclock it, if its normal life span is 5 years it will go down to like 3 or something?

Overclocking as long as you keep temperatures where they should be won't shorten the lifespan of any part that you will perceive.

That CPU would last 10-15 years. You won't notice it only lasting 7 because of overclocking.

What cooler would you recommend for the cpu to overclock to without breaking the bank? Air preferable because i dont think i need watercooled for this build.
