ASUS EZtuning attempt!

Hello!

So, I just attempted to use the EZtuning in the Z270 ASUS Motherboard BIOS (Using latest BIOS) and it went to change my voltage to 1.427v, running at 4.9GHz (Guessing it locked it at that speed).

 

Intel Core i7 7700K


I did chose that I use an AIO, but not sure if this is too much for a H45 Push/Pull or not, it has spiked once up to 88c (190F) when my computer loaded in things as Discord, Twitch Client and some minor background software.

 

Running at 39-52C when writing this with just one Firefox tab.

I noticed also when the computer loads in Steam when I logged on, the fanspeed increased and the slowed down once loaded in.

 

When I attempted PUBG which for me is a CPU heavy game. It went around 69-77C, spiked once to 91C during loading screen (guessing it loaded it all in by then).

 

This CPU is not delided because I can not do it myself, sadly.

Should I tune it back down to it original state at 1.2V at 4.5Ghz?

EZTuning is trash imo. Goes too far overboard on voltage usually.

 

Tune it back down to your original spec and manually OC from then on.

1.427v is way higher than I would ever go for 24/7 use on a H45. 91C is not good either. I would dial it back a bit or get a better cooler

Just keeping this here as a Yes my next thing to get is a larger AIO, most likely aiming for H115 after I get a larger SSD for my Steam Library. Thanks though, will tune it down to the regular settings right now and wait until I can afford a larger cooler. :)

One more thing is that (IIRC) 1.427V may be a semi-dangerous voltage for a Kaby Lake CPU. My memory on that is sketch as I haven't messed around with a KBL CPU since I sold my 7700K back in May last year.

Understandable, I know most switched their 7700K for 8700K, I did not know of the 8700K when it were about to come around when I bought my 7700K, sadly I was too greedy to upgrade my computer by the time and then just 3-4 months later the 8700K arrived.

Shame, but I still do not regret it as I got my 7700K and TUF MARK 1 Z270 with 16GB RAM for jusy 700 Euros (Last year), was 120 euros off from the price due to an Intel sale on the website I bought from, sale was because of Ryzen was just around the corner then.

I'm an outlier in that regard, being that I switched from a 7700K to a Ryzen 1700. Planned on a 1700X until I spotted the 1700 on a big extremely limited time discount on Amazon. 242 bucks is a good deal IMO.

That's quite a nice deal :)

But for now I shall dwell in the shadows of my H45 until I can get a dual radiator 280mm going, because the pump is quite loud for the H45 sadly, but I use headset so only without them I hear it :x
