My AIO died :(

Go to solution Solved by For Science!,

Green liquid is a ethylene/propylene glycol mix to keep corrosion at bay. However given that you probably have an aluminium radiatot galvanic corrosion happened nonetheless and stuff started leeching into the fluid. and then got stuck in the fins and pump

 leading to death.

My AIO died a couple moths ago so today I decided to take it apart to see what went wrong. At first cutting the tube a green liquid fell out followed by a bronze colored liquid. When I took off the copper plate there were many small peices of plastic resting against the fins. My guess at this point was that something had shadered the pump. Upon further inspection the pump seemed fine and was in great condition. Maybe the plaice cloged the pump? I would love to get your guys opinion on what exactly might have gone wrong.A00A2437-8BDA-4279-9E61-C5B5A1B04DCA.thumb.jpeg.f4dec8306db332bc885adb7687b16531.jpeg

Rip. Get a new one.

so glad you took the time to read the OPs post...

OP, it looks like whatever that is, is likely what did kill your pump.

Looks like galvanic corrosion, old AIO's coolant probably didn't last all that long against corrosion. They do change the formula so likely new ones won't have this issue.

Most people usually have either the pump die within 5 years or evaporation these days.
