Well, I have some doubts about my upgrade..

First of all I'm an architecture student, I built my pc primary for gaming in 2015 and now I've started to work with 3DS Max with V-ray and sometimes Lumion 8.

My current rig is:

i5 4590 / 8GB of ram / 1TB of hd / Gigabyte H97 Motherboard / GTX 960

My plan is to upgrade my cpu, mbo and memory for now...

I'm between a i7 8700k and a Ryzen 2700x with the appropriate mbo for a little overclock and 16GB of ram... I really wanted something like a i9, but these 2 processors it's all I afford right now. (I live in Brazil, pc parts are very expensive)

Thank's!

Grab a 2700 and just OC it up to match. They're both still really good choices.

Look for an ASrock Pro 4 as the probably best budget AM4 board, might need a BIOS update though.

Otherwise get an X470 board, all of them are alright, probably just grab the cheapest.

And you'll likely be fine with just an R5 2600, but if you have the money go for the R7 2700X

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

My brother has an I7 6700k 6 core ( which was the original 6 core competitor to the 1600x ) and it is a little worse than the 2700x all around, however if you want the extra 4-10 fps in SOME games then go for the intel chips. I personally would recommend the x470 and 2700x and save money for the h100iv2 cooler.. thats about all you need. My current build is : - B350F Asus Rog mobo - 2700x @4.01Ghz - 250Gb NvME ssd 960 evo - 2x8Gb DDR4 @3200Mhz - Corsair 750w psu -NZXT S340 - 1TB WD Black HDD - Corsair H100iV2 - XFX R9 390 8Gb -

edit: ram is Gskill ripjaws ( gray color ) and I built my pc last month.
