Ethernet problem

I have a modem in my bedroom and I want to connect it to my PC 2 rooms apart. I was wondering if using an ethernet cable to a router and then to my PC would be any slower than connecting the cable directly to my PC as I want to have wifi in that room as it does not reach. Would it even work?

It will not be any slower. You MIGHT add 1-2ms of additional latency but that's about it.

Would it need additional power?

You could always checkout powerline adapters.
