So i currently have a macbook air from 2013 and its not cutting it, the screen is shit and overall its starting to fall apart so i think its time for a upgrade. I need it for basic school work and uni stuff. Light gaming like Civ 5 and 6 maybe some fortnite but nothing too bad. the big two things it needs is a nice screen and good internals i dont care too much about the thickness nor the weight.

this is a pretty solid laptop with a good gpu for light gaming and 4gb of vram

with the extra money in your budget, i would definitely add a ssd to improve boot times (caps at 256gb from what i read, but that should be more than enough) and work applications and upgrade the ram to 16gb

Don't think I'll go for this after seeing a video from Jay talking about AMD throttling the mobile proccesers

Used or refurbished would probably be a good idea, I got my machine for $850 refurbished myself. Looking around for deals on places like amazon, newegg, and ebay would be a good start. I'd say a good gaming experience requires at least a 970m (around same performance as 1050 ti) in my eyes.

This would be a good reference and possibly a good buy as long as the bidding doesn't exceed your budget.

this laptop isn't throttled(the clock speed and cpu in this laptop is more than good enough for light gaming), idk what conspiracy theory stuff you've seen but theses old amd laptops still hold up well; it really needs the previously mentioned upgrade and with 4gb of vram you should be able to handle any game on the market
