Rma Z97 motherboard is not turning on

Hi everyone

I just got back my new asrock z97 extreme 6 motherboard from asrock rma service, since the old one stopped working.

CPU and ram are installed but I'm getting the error on the video.

It looks like the mb says error 66 or an incomplete 66.

Its not 66 or any other number. Its just the display powering up on off again.

Most of the times its due to a short. Take of all front panel connections (reset, power ect)

and boot up again by shorting the power pins (NOT the Power LED pins :D )

To exclude anything else make sure just the ATX power is connected and the 4pin CPU power

yeah this definitely doesn't look like code 66, OP you should try and see if the mobo works outside of the case :)

Btw I checked the 24 pin connector and it's not fully connecting on the mb. But both the mb and cable look good.

Thats normal, that pin is not meant to be connected.

I see that MB has an 8pin CPU power connector. Is that attached too?

And did you do what we suggested?

Sorry but how do u boot up by shorting the power pins?

And I meant the atx cable, not the 24 pin I got confused with the name. So as I posted above. The atx cable is not getting completely connected, I have to push it hard but still nothing.

That pin looks mangled. Better have a closer look it.

By shorting them :D use a screwdriver to short (bridge) them.

I've been tinkering with that thing and still nothing. It won't fit completely... A month ago I tested everything psu, ram, cpu and mobo. All worked except the mb. I get a mb replacement and somehow that freaking atx cable is not clicking on the mb.

I'm afraid of forcing the cable until it fits tho

I'm not there so i cannot tell if the connector requires to much pressure to go in. You can try wiggling it in with light force.

Best thing would be to test it with another PSU if you can.

Maybe you're using the wrong cable. Are you sure you're not using a PCIe cable there maybe?

If so, that's the wrong cable. Double check the manual to be sure you're using the correct one.
