Hello all,

I have Pentium G4560 on Msi B250-m motherboard, 16g 2400 (2×8) and gtx 1050ti,  i recently upgraded to Gtx 1070 founder Edition. I am looking for Cpu upgrade? I am ok with platformer upgrade.

I use my pc mainly gaming and light Photoshop.

My budget is $400-$500

Any recommendations?

Thank you for any help you can provide

8400 with B360 mobo. I dont recommend Ryzen 5 2600 because its further upgrades benefit in workstation use more than games. An 8700 might exceed the budget, but it's the best choice if it doesnt.

it would be much more cost effective if you bought a used  i5 6500, i5 7500, i7 6700 or i7 7700  or even a K sku cpu , you dont need to overclock it, its higher stock clock will do you wonders going forward

a platform upgrade seems unnecessary and expensive for your pc usage

Just buy a i7-7700 for now and save up for something better.

Cheapest performance is a 6700/7700 non k as you can't OC on your current motherboard.  That would be a good match (no bottleneck) to your 1070.

Anything else will take a new MOBO, but I agree with an 8400 if you upgrade that.

You can probably get the ryzen 5 and a decent motherboard for that price with the stock cooler. The stock cooler does the job just fine so you don't need a replacement cooler and the performance is about the same as the 7.

I thought about ryzen cooler not the issue i have a hyper 212 but the memory speed is mu only issue with ryzen since it depend on so much and the kit i have is only 2400 speed. So changing to ryzen properly mean i need new memory.

you already have a decent motherboard and RAM so just upgrade your CPU to a i7-6700 or i7-7700 and you'll be golden, these are plenty powerful enough and they are faster than Ryzen anyways.

It's worth mentioning, I don't think the normal Hyper 212 comes with the AM4 bracket mounts. But i know the 212 LED Black Edition does as that's what I got recently for my own Ryzen build (personally the Wraith cooler was too noisy).
