I'd change the PSU to something like the CX450M/550M when you upgrade.

 

Yes it will work. Don't get a more expensive K series SKU, as those can't overclock on your motherboard.

As your motherboard is LGA 1155, you can choose from the following i7 CPU's

 

Sandy-Bridge

2600 - Suitable

2600K - If you're using an OEM motherboard (I'm guessing this is from a prebuilt) you can't overclock anyway

2700K - If you're using an OEM motherboard (I'm guessing this is from a prebuilt) you can't overclock anyway

2600S - Low Power Variant

 

Ivy-Bridge

3770 - Suitable

3770K - Again, no point as you can't OC.

3770S - Another low power variant

3770T - Even lower power.

 

TLDR - You can either choose between a 2600 or a 3770.
