Should I get the 1080 or wait for 1180

yugi8264

The 1180 is $699 and the 1080 prices are going down. Is it worth it getting the 1080 or should I preorder the 1180 in case of price spikes due to miners.

Not right now but when it becomes available. I feel like if you don't preordee it the day it is live for preorder it gets sold out.

If I can sell an unannounced product I would be able to sell it for 2x+ the price of the card to miners.

nVidia hasn’t officially announced a 1180. So the rumor street price will be $700 USD. But I would wait for the new cards instead of getting a 2 year old card.

I have a gtx 660 so I need a replacement later on. Any chance that the price will be lower than the rumored price.

"If" the 1180 is announced in the next few months, you won't get close to it for months. Took about 4 to be able to reliably buy a Pascal card.

If you need an upgrade, just buy a 1080.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

I need an upgrade but not an immediate one. So I can wait for it if it comes out in about 3 months but not something crazy like 6 months.

6 months is almost curtain. Will take 3 for GDDR6 to be avalible for Nvidia to make the cards, then at least a few months to produce cards before launch, then 3-6 months before you can get close to the new cards. preorders will be filled before you even know they're there.

If anyone asks you never saw me.
