Issues with a password'd ethernet

Ok so once I got it booted the only thing I did in the UEFI is try and get my M.2 SSD to show up and I messed with the CSM module (I have since reverted those back to where they should be). After first plugging in the ethernet and the initial troubleshooting not working I then tried to update the BIOS to a newer version (that didn't directly help). The ethernet cable is lit up and all that but honestly I'm at a loss here.

Something interesting of note when I tried the static IP address I managed to avoid getting outright errors but still didn't get ethernet.

Did you try a different port on the router/switch?

When you tried the static IP address, did you pick an address that was outside of the DHCP range so as to avoid accidentally picking an address that was already being used?

Can you give us an example of what you used? like:-

IP address: 192.168.1.50

Network mask: 255.255.255.0 or /24

Gateway: 192.169.1.1

I recently completed a build and upon installing windows and plugging in the ethernet cable (that worked with my previous PC) I keep on getting the "'Ethernet' doesn't have a valid IP configuration" error. This site is useful but I've tried every single one of the solutions and none have worked. I can't temporarily disable the passwords on the network. Any suggestions?

What makes you think it's some sort of network password? as far as I know that's not a thing.

If you run windows network troubleshooter it should enable DHCP which should automatically find you an IP. If for whatever reason that doesn't work then I suggest you check your router's settings to make sure that you have DHCP enabled.

If that still doesn't work then you should reinstall your LAN drivers, you can get these from your motherboards website. You could try to statically assign your IP if that fails.

The password was the only thing that I could think of that had changed between this pc and my previous one and the windows troubleshooter has struggled to find a solution as of this moment. I'll definitely try the static IP thing though in the meantime

Agree with above, haven't heard of that being a thing before. If it's not getting a valid IP, then that's down to the router not being set up correctly, or the PC... if your other devices are working correctly on the network then that points to the PC being the problem.

Try another cable, also try the previous cable on another device if possible to rule that out as the problem. Then it should be down to either the network drivers, the configuration or the adaptor itself being the problem.

I apologize for the late reply but I've been trying everything suggested to me so far. The cable is fine and as my other devices can connect to the internet I thought it would be my PC's fault. Unfortunately using a static IP or any other popular troubleshooter still gave me the same error. So now I'm thinking it must be my modem or router but how long should I leave them off in order to be sure?

No, if your other devices can connect and use the internet fine, then it shouldn't be your modem/router at all...

Can you give a brief history of what you did after booting the pc the first time? also if you have your specs, or a link to pcpartpicker might be helpful thanks.

Did you download the drivers from AsRock specifically for the Ethernet adapter and install those?

If you open up Device Manger and looked under "Network Adapters" are there any of them with a yellow or red mark? Or perhaps even a grey down arrow?

While mostly correct that you can't password protect Ethernet explicitly (password only), you can do 802.1x authentication which is more secure and is username/password protected, depending on the configuration you could get around that if MAC Authentication Bypass is configured but I won't get into that. Of course that's all enterprise level stuff but I guess could count as "password protected" in a way :)
