OK, I've gotten my income tax return, and I'm ready to get a new laptop. I've found a couple prospects, but I've had a instructor advise against it, telling me that the legality of it being sold here in the US might be questionable, as the seller openly admitted to buying it in mainland China.

So, here are the two contenders: a Hasee laptop, and an Alienware 15 R2.

The Hasee has an i7 4720HQ, GTX 970m, 16GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD and a 1TB HDD. They have admitted that there is a "small ding on the right palm rest", the screen flickers once or twice an hour for one or two seconds(gets brighter when it happens), and that they will be including 3 or four North American adaptors.(pictures are listed)

The Alienware has a i7 6700, GTX 970m, 8GB RAM, and a 1TB HDD. (here's the mpn if you want it: dkcwkblf033s)

Both are 15.6" displays.

Thread is no longer fucking needed.

People are just trying to help and they make valid points based on the provided information.

Without knowing what you want to do with it (gaming, office work, school), we can't do much except choose based on what you gave us.

I wouldn't even consider the chinese laptop after hearing the problems you mention with it. Why buy broken hardware from a distant country with, as mentioned, probably no warranty?

The Alienware may be suitable, but it's 3 year old hardware, so there may be newer products available that are just plainly a better buy now. It boils down to what do you want to use it for, and how much are you willing to spend .

I've also never heard of Hasee before

Hasee sells custom laptops, mostly Clevos including the one you linked (not sure what's the model).

Old Alienwares have build quality and cooling issue so I'll avoid buying them. Don't know much about older Clevos but they should be OK. Just need to do quality check and repaste.

What are you going to do with that laptop? Gaming?

Thanks for the helpful info. I plan to game and start learning to create content (mostly videos). Gaming was priority. I ended up going with the Hasee because the seller was responsive and detailed in the information provided, and seemed to be honest about the product, along with while having the same gpu, according to what I noticed on userbenchmark, there's maybe a 5% difference in performance at most.

I don't know how soon I'll be able to repaste, but I'll do it as soon as I can.
