PS4 type regarding my tv

Go to solution Solved by ono,

The limiting factor looks to be your HDMI ports. The specs you posted says: "Video inputs on all HDMI: @24,25,30Hz, up to 4K UHD"

So it looks like you'll be limited to 30 fps gaming at 4K [EDIT: It looks like the PS4 Pro doesn't even support 4K 30Hz based on what I see googling; so you're out of luck with 4K]. I don't know if that's acceptable to you. You can set a Pro to output at 1080p, which I presume your TV can do at 60Hz. On a game-to-game basis the Pro at 1080p can provide more stable framerate and/or supersampling anti-aliasing (i.e. game renders at a higher resolution and downsampled to 1080p output). Bear in mind that only select games are Pro enhanced, so check the games you are interested in now and the future, regardless if you plan on playing in 4K or not.

Regarding, input lag, that's not usually specified in manufacturer's specs. You'll need to look at reviews that test that sort of thing. If you TV has a picture mode for gaming, that usually means a bunch of processing is turned off for as low latency that model can achieve, which may still not be acceptable to you. So I'd try to test out the game mode (if available) with your PC and see if it looks acceptable to you. If it doesn't have a game mode, it doesn't sound like it is acceptable to you right now...

hi, i have a philips 40pus6809/12, specs in pictures below.

i want to buy a Ps4, can.t decide if normal, slim, or pro. i heard inly pro can play 4k res, is my tv capable of it?

i want it second hand, prices in my country are:

slim 500gb, just power cable and hdmi 169$

normal 500gb, headset, usb, power cable, hdmi and wireless controller dualshock4

pro, controller, cable, battlefield4 and fifa16 230$

i would go for pro if my tv is supporting 4k settings.

what do you guys think, will my tv support 4k gaming at decent response time? thanks!

I would go with the PS4 Pro. It will take advantage of your TV's 4K (3840x2160) panel and will offer higher framerates in most 1080/1440p games.

@Homeless Pineapple

okay but are you sure my tv supports gaming in 4k? it is pretty old, 3 years old. i have it connected as my second display sometimes to watch movies via hdmi and there is like under a second time of delay between the monitor and tv. dont mind it while watching movies but would ruin the game experience.

Yep! The 40PSU6809/12 you listed specifies that it has a 3840x2160 panel, and will, therefore, accept and display a 4K input. If you're running into problems with increased input lag, make sure that you have GAME MODE enabled in your TV's settings menu, and that you are running the latest available firmware.

Yeah, that's why I'd go with the 4 PRO anyway, regardless of the TV.
Its just Worth it, higher image quality in some games (Horizon Zero Dawn, Rise of the Tomb Raider for example)...
