My friend is trying to set up window capture for Hearthstone in OBS, but instead of capturing just the hearthstone window, it captures a tiny bit of hearthstone in the back with the OBS window overtop of the hearthstone gameplay. On top of that, the video that is captured by the "window capture" source is frozen, with the obs window partially open as described earlier. I've attached a picture to show what this looks like. It's pretty low quality because I screenshotted his discord screen share, but it's the best I could do.

edit: The "Window Capture" source is on top, so the obs window shouldn't be showing up over it.

PLEASE HELP HE'S CURRENTLY RANK 4 IN HEARTHSTONE AND WANTS TO START STREAMING PLZ HELP

They should be using game capture. But if it needs to be window capture, disable transparent elements or whatever that setting is called. Another thing to try is to make HS smaller for testing so that it isn't overlapping or covered by other windows. Game capture is overall better option.

Game capture doesn't bring up any image at all. Could you be more specific about where that "disable transparent elements" setting is?

There used to be option for scene settings that would prevent overlapping windows causing issues. So even if captured window was covered, it was still being captured. Is this just with HS window? Have they tried setting up hotkey for telling OBS which game/window to capture?

Install the better version of OBS, Streamlabs OBS, and call it a day. Since switching to Streamlabs OBS, I have not had a single dropped frame, and it's never frozen or locked up on me during use. It's like the mature version of OBS that they never advertise.

I would call it more like another distro of OBS which is just getting into scene. Kinda like Ubuntu was in 2005-7.
