OpenVPN Change DNS

How can I change the DNS my openVPN server uses? I am 99% sure it's in a file but I don't remember what the name is. Also when I change it on the server can I just update my client config locally by editing it? Thanks

Just keeping this here as a I gather you want to change which DNS servers clients connecting to the server are instructed to use. In that case, add a 

push "dhcp-option DNS 1.1.1.1" #or whatever other nameserver IP you want to use

line to your /etc/openvpn/server.conf

That's assuming your server configuration is called server.conf, like in most How-Tos, it might be called something else. IIRC openvpn should process all .conf files in /etc/openvpn/

 

If you want to change the DNS server that the server OS itself uses, you should add a 

dns-nameservers 1.1.1.1

line under the interface with internet access in /etc/network/interfaces
