Hello there.

I recently built a pc with an SSD, in which I stored Windows to boot and an HDD to store everything else.

Although, HDD is not showing up on "This PC" and therefore it's like not having it.

I can see it in device manager and in the bios, but it doesn't show up in the disk management.

What could the problem be and what can I do for it?

You need to partition the drive.

Alright, can I get a little more help on that? I mean, I searched on youtube possible reasons why this is happening and everything was about unallocated hdd in disk manager but mine is not showing up.

Based on the picture I noticed it wasn't there.

Open CMD and follow the commands:

"Diskpart" then "List disk" no quotes. Caps aren't needed.

If you see a disk 0,1,2, etc and one says 1,000GB (or near about, maybe 931GB) and shows the free space is = drive size. Then you'll need to partition it.

Check this first, see if it is the case. If it is I can explain how to partition it in CMD.

I guess it's not there.

Interesting. That wasn't expected. Did you try a different SATA cable? The OS knows it's there but a broken or lose connection might cause issues.

I didn't try a different SATA cable or a different link in my motherboard because I can see it in BIOS and in device manager, I don't really expect this to be the problem. Could it be though?

I've had drives show up in the BIOS, Show up in the OS, and even show up with a drive letter. Though when I tried moving data to/from the drive everything would stop responding and once I got out of the crash the drive would disappear from My Computer (This PC). Changing the cable made everything work beautifully again. It is true though it might not change anything. My next guess would be either a BIOS configuration, which port it's plugged into, AHCI/IDE is a crapshoot idea that most likely isn't the solution. Or if this is like the old days where you have to install the AHCI driver.

Okay so, small update. My HDD was linked in the SATA6G_1 slot in my motherboard. I changed it to the SATA6G_3, in case that slot was faulty but didn't change anything. Still SSD only showing up.

Strange. It's really suppose to be pretty plug'partition'n'play What happens if you plug the drive into a different computer?

Well at the moment I'm having just one computer, so let's just leave this solution for now. I actually don't expect the hard drive itself to be broken or faulty, since it's brand new.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble. Since you've tried it in a different motherboard slot, it may also be a good idea to try it with a different SATA power connector on the ribbon of the power supply if possible, and try it with a different SATA cable. A couple of other things you could try:

Open Device Manager, scan for hardware changes, then close and reopen Disk Management and scan for changes there.

Download our free software DiscWizard, which is a limited version of Acronis' popular True Image software, try following the install wizards there and see if you get anything.

Since you're seeing it in the BIOS, you could also grab our free diagnostic software SeaTools and try scanning the drive for errors.

If you'd like to look into potential warranty info, you can access our Warranty Validation Tool page.

Hello. So, I tried the following steps:
1. Changed the motherboard slot connected to my drive, from SATA6G_1 to SATA6G_3, in case my motherboard slot was faulty.
2. Changed the wire connected from my drive to my motherboard.
3. Checked for updates for my drive.
4. Scanned for hardware changes in Device Manager and Disk Management too.
5. Tried out the DiscWizard diagnostic software. It doesn't recognise my Seagate drive. It only recognises my SSD drive. See spoiler below.

6. Tried out the SeaTools diagnostic software, but same. It only recognises my SSD drive. See spoiler below.

Is there anything else I can try out. It really seems so weird, to be able to see it in my BIOS and Device Manager but not in Disk Management.

In device manager, right-click on the Seagate drive and uninstall it. Then right-click anywhere and choose "Scan for hardware changes" to let Windows attempt to grab fresh drivers for it and reset its' status. Then I'd check Disk Management again, because there's no reason for a drive to show up in the BIOS and device manager but not disk management, aside from possibly a bad SATA port or SATA data cable.

Unfortunately, it didn't work. I also tried changing the cable from the driver to my power supply, and nothing really happened. I've ran out of ideas right now.

What it's also interesting, is the fact that I tried removing my SSD and booting only with the HDD to load windows 10, and when it was time to pick a disk for windows 10, the disk list was empty. So, basically, the driver itself is behaving as a driver in the device manager and BIOS, but it's neither bootable nor aknowledged as a driver in the disk management. Really weird. I will be returning it from the store I picked it up, to check for this faulty behavior.
