For games and just system speed, a regular SATA III SSD is fine for anthing mainstream, don't waste your money on a nvme drive like I did it doesn't give any benefits for the normal consumer scenario.

How much do you have to spend, and whats the minimum capacity you want? People can then see if your expectations are doable.

I have an 960 EVO 250gb for my OS and some games, if you want a bit of games on it you probably want a 500gb or more, and you really shouldn't need to spend more than $350 on it.

edit: wrong quote but its related so ill leave it^^

buy this:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147673

it costs as much as my 512GB 850 Pro with twice the capacity.

if you want to save more money then buy this:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820331115

if you want to save more money work your way down from those. I would suggest not buying any PCIe or M.2 drives since they just cost a lot more per GB and you personally might not notice the increased performance.
