An upgrade on my gpu

Hello world of very smart computer people

 

I need to upgrade my gpu but my issue/worry is bottlenecking... my cpu now on the computer i want to upgrade is a ryzen 3 1300x (not oc'd) and my gpu is a good old 1050 ti i would love an upgrade but dont know my "limit" till i bottleneck i dont necessarily have a budget as of right now i just want to know my options for right now

You wont have a bottleneck with any current gen GPUs with that chip. You should be fine to get whatever you want.

really? are u sure? so if i get lets say a regular 1080? or 1080 ti i wont get any bottlenecks? im looking at one of those

wow!! haha sorry im used to super budget cpus and just enough power to run most games at low settings 60 fps 

 

surprisingly online benchmarks on the cpu are worse than what i get

Well it depends tbh. The ryzen 3 1300x isn't a bad cpu, but even my 4790k bottlenecks my gtx 1080 in some games at least. In gpu dependend games like e.g. overwatch you won't have any issues but in cpu heavy games like Battlefield 1 multiplayer, your 1300x will definitely bottleneck a 1080 (even my 4790k @ 4.5GHz bottlenecks my 1080 there). So the highest i would go is a 1070 probably.

im open to both sides of gpus (i prefer nvidia but still)

Right now there isn't really an amd option. Vega 56 is slightly better than a 1070, while the rx 580 competes more with a 1060 which wouldn't be a worthy upgrade from your 1050ti. What you could do is upgrading to a 1080, and later upgrade your cpu considering you have a nice and easy upgrade path on your cpu side. It really depends on what games you're playing.

mostly emulation .... non emulated games rn are far cry 5 final fantasy 15 destiny 2 monster hunter when that comes out .... i play nearly every game ??

I would expect bottlenecking on a 1080 or 1080Ti. Possibly even bottleneck on a 1070.

Most emulaters need both a decent cpu and a decent gpu. It's your decision what to upgrade first, however since you're playing alot of single player games i would go for the 1080 first, and if the performance is not what you expected save some more money and get  nice 2nd gen ryzen 5 or 7.

At 1080p, I suspect a ryzen 3 1300x will bottleneck at 1080ti in some games (but maybe not all.), in 1440p should be fine (no bottleneck) if you max setting out. In 4K, definitely no bottleneck.

 

Basically, it depends on The games you play at what FPS at what resolution.

 

ryzen 3 1300x may struggle to get high FPS (example: 144hz) regardless of the graphics card.

Definitely. At least in Multiplayer games.

multiplayer games are actually very varied when it comes to me .... call of duty battlefield.... pubg radical heights payday 2 overwatch but ya mostly single player games
