So I got a xps 8700 computer and did some upgrade's like putting it in a inwin 101 case 550 corsair powersupply and a gtx 1060 now one thing I've been wanting on is a new motherboard. The processor is a i7-4770 so I've been wanting a z97 motherboard even though I know I can't overclock it but would there be problems I might encounter? I'm still new to pc building so any help would be appreciated.

Sounds fine.

What motherboard do you have mind? If you don't have any particular features you need, you could get a lower end and cheaper motherboard.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

Don't waste your money on a motherboard for that platform unless your current one is broken.

Just save up for an R5 1600 + ASrock Pro 4, though DDR4 is an issue

A different motherboard for that CPU will not perform any better. Save your money for a newer CPU and motherboard. In the meantime though, that system should do OK. You would have been better to get a GTX 1080 and leave the rest of of the system alone.
