upgrade or switch?

i have a pc with 4gb of ddr2 ram, an amd athlon 64 x2 6000+ (dual core 3.1 ghz) cpu, and a nvidia GeForce 9600 GT (512 MB) gpu and my motherboard is asrock A780GXE/128M (supports 16 gb of ddr2 ram it has 4 slots and has a socket am2) should i upgrade or switch?

btw i have a budget of 450 euros if i switch and a budget of 200 if i upgrade

I would switch but salvage stuff from your old PC wherever possible. Depending on what you have, you can maybe keep your case, PSU and storage and use the 450 to buy CPU/Mobo/RAM/GPU or a Ryzen APU/Mobo/RAM.

ryzen cpu is not supported with my motherboard, so maybe i will switch

Your hardware is ancient. Unless you can go DIY all Scrapyard Wars style, upgrading for modern hardware means complete overhaul. It depends on what you play though, if you're alright with 2007 games then of course, but anything beyond that, upgrading is just not worth it. 

 

I don't know how things are priced exactly where you live. Maybe your 450 Euro budget is enough for a pre-built system and maybe then you could save up a few more for a decent graphics card while you make do with Integrated graphics.

 

If it's up to me, I'll just buy a Switch and a bunch of games. The Switch IS worth it, considering those fantastic games you can't play anywhere else unless you emulate them.
