New build fr my wife

My wife needs a new PC ...coz her old i5 3570 rig is showing some issues....I think it's a bad Mobo....I currently don't have much time to troubleshoot it (troubleshooting is boring).....so I m planning to build a new PC fr her fr cheap..

I got a deal fr a core2duo e8400 + gigabyte g41m combo + 8gb ram fr $15

I m thinking of purchasing a Xeon x5460 or x5482.....those r lga771 CPUs.... but with some modding they fit into lga 775 socket ND with a bios update ...they start working..

I'll chuck in my old 780ti

And assemble it in her old case....

What do u guy's think about my plan..

I know going with ryzen apus is a better choice....but here I built an equally powerful rig fr below $50

I HV a spare 6800k...which I m planning to use fr a further build fr my youngest son.

What's her main purposes of using her computer? Just normal working, or gaming, or productivity? As I don't think that Core 2 Duo is going to be powerful, and it will almost definitely bottleneck the 780Ti.

Ah then. If so, you don't need to put in a Xeon. The Core 2 Duo is going to be just fine. Beware though, if the Excel document is very large, it might not even open with 8gb of RAM.
