I built a pc for my mother to play fallout 4 on.

But in my testing i dont get the performance i expected from the APU in 1080p as seen in this video. (skip to 7:10 for 1080p)

I have the same settings as shown in the description.

My mother´s system only has one 8gb ram stick at 3000mhz but in my testing it wasnt used fully with about 800mb remaining.

What can i do to get the full performance of the APU?

Thanks in advance.

The APU benefits heavily from dual channel RAM. 2x4 gb  get you better results than 1x8gb

Hm i did try cinebench and it wnt over 3.7ghz.

but the cpu is clearly underclocking while playing, its a powersaving feature u should disable that if u want performance , its actually as simple as just editing the power options

I set the power options for max performance now but there is no change.

That sounds a bit off to me.  You should have more remaining than that.  Is all that RAM usage coming from Fallout?

I'd also try different RAM speeds to see if it's the stability of the OC.  If a synthetic benchmark is letting your CPU max out I would think your issue is RAM related.

It´s not just fallout 4 using all the ram.

The system uses about 3gb of ram at idle.

How?

by turning off windows services that u dont use and rebooting  , saves alot of ram  , plenty of guides online for that

I just did and there is nothing.

I think i´ll follow @TVwazhere advize and get another stick of ram for dual channel.

AMD CBS > Global C-States Control is AMD Cool'n'Quiet.   ( they just changed the name on ryzen apperantly )

._. the underclock issue will remain with cnq enabled, even fi u get more ram

thats the case with all cpus, 1stick of ram will kill ur minfps in singlethread heavy parts xD 2x4 can be stutter where 4x4 wouldnt
