Sure it's a great motherboard! You'll be able to add a second GPU and do some pretty descent overclocking.

Did you bother to look at the motherboard?

Gigabyte GA-Z87M-D3H

It's a mATX motherboard. First PCI-E slot is version 3.0 and runs at X16 bandwidth. Second PCI-E X16 slot is version 2.0 and runs at X4 bandwidth.

OP, depending on when you are planning to have the parts ordered and the system built, probably better to get a NVidia graphics card right now. The prices for AMD GPUs right now are RIDICULOUS! (This is coming from a person who prefers AMD). If you are wiling to wait until the price on the AMD parts (i.e. X9-280X) to drop, then okay.

If you do change your mind to get an NVidia card AND you may consider in running a mulit-GPU system (a second graphics card), nVidia requires a second PCI-E slot with a minimum of X8 speed (X8 or X16 is needed).

MB is fine. Linus did a video showing that the cheapest Z87 mini board will = Asus ROG board in gaming. If it has z87 on it? You are good to go, and Gigabytes are fine..

Also, that board will work out of box as a hackintosh motherboard if you ever feel like running Mac OS Mavericks with a dual boot.  ;)

It's as good for gaming as any other z87 mobo.

prices must be crazy there, i can get a 7870 xt for cheaper then a nvidia 650 ti boost, and a 7970(280x i guess) for the same as a 760.
