Hey guys,

i just installed my "new" (bought from ebay) Evga Gtx 1080 (Blower edition) and i ran firestrike to see if everything is working correctly. My Graphics score is about 1k under the the 1080FE i think. What do you guys think, is the Evga 1080 performing fine ?

Check your drivers. Also, use MSI afterburner to watch temps and be sure the fans are working correctly.

Also, the issue might be a scam. There is something called BIOS slashing (I think is the name) where they sell you something like a 750 and make it think it is a 1080. You can get a refund if that is the case.

Edit: detecting a fake card is pretty hard. If I remember correctly you have to actually take the thermal paste off the GPU itself and look at the label on the GPU.

I installed the latest drivers via geforce experience. The target temp is set to 83° in Msi Afterburner which should be fine i think.

Well this card is definitely not a scam because it is not extremely underperforming.

Check clock speeds in MSI afterburner? I don't really know what else it could be.

Edit: could it be a bottleneck with the CPU?

20.9k is a little bit low but not much to be concerned about. Could be because it's a got a crap cooler it's hitting it's first temp "limit" and pulling the clock down slightly. The limit you actually set (Afterburner/Precision X) is where the proper throttling begins.

Keep Pascal cool and it'll fly. By cool you need to be below 40C or so. That's to make sure that there's no clock fluctuation at all.

Alright then, so i will just change the temp limit, set a custom fan curve and oc it a bit.

Alright, as i said above i will change the fan curve manually and i'll see if the performance will be normal with a slight oc.

Agreed. If it isn't boosting because of temps that would explain the lower than expected score.

I'm really dumb. I read the boost clock and compared it to the base clock.

So it's basically fine, just with a little slow clock compared to the other oc and aftermarket editions ? I got that one because i really really like the looks of it and i also got it for a very small amount of money.

Alright, i just installed evga precision xoc and oc'd my card. I set the power limit to max, core +200MHz, Memory +500MHz. The card is clocking just above 2000MHz in firestrike now. The Graphic score compares very nicely to other aftermarket Gtx 1080's right ?image.png.cd9d1137e356a65a4cc9b9d3fe1de766.png
