Hey guys, so I’m wanting to buy a Razer Blade later this year for college, and I was wanting to get a job in summer and save for one, but is there point in buying it in the summer or should I wait until the new 2018 version comes out? I will probably choose the full HD version with 512GB of storage, I don’t know if Razer will upgrade this one or just the 4K version, and if it’s just an upgrade to Coffee Lake, is there any point waiting? Any awnsers are appreciated!

Max

don't buy a Blade. they are plagued with issues and run very very hot. what are your requirements and we'll give you better alternatives

Thanks for the reply, doing a Media Production course, so going to be doing video editing in Premiere and Photoshop and animation, wanting it to be a gaming machine also, so playing things like PUBG and Escape From Tarkov. I knew Blades run hot but I wasn’t going to be maxing it out while using the inbuilt keyboard. I also looked at buying and Alienware 15 with the same sort of specs, but I knew those were thick and heavy and wanting this machine to be light and portable. Very open to suggestions so you opinion would help a lot!

Thanks again

Don't buy a Blade.

You're probably looking for something with a GTX 1060 and a Core i7 processor.

Maybe check out some of the refreshed 8750H laptops. Avoid some that are known for heat like the STRIX laptops, however.

Hello, thanks for replying, budget it about £2000 but can go over a bit, I would like a fast CPU and GPU so probably 7700HQ and 1060 or better. What about the quality control is bad because Linus seems to think it’s ok, if you can’t tell already I am a bit of a Razer fanboy :))

Thanks for the reply

Wait for more CFL-H laptops. Or get a Clevo N950TP6 with desktop CFL CPU.

Linus had issues with the Blade, especially the ones he bought for his staff.

They needed to be sent back for RMA, sometimes even twice.

I know, an RMA isn’t new. Problem is that Razer’s CS is very hit-or-miss. RMAs happen, so I have much more respect for any company that makes their customers feel like a guest when this happens.
