So bascically I was playing forza horizon 3 on high on unlocked fps and I was only getting 30 fps and I was what the heck and I don't know if it is cause of ram because it does say you need 12gb of ram when I have 8gb idk if it is a performance issue . would 16gb of ram would fix the issue and atleast get 50-60 fps on high?

anything on or more than 8gb of RAM, the effect of having more RAM in games isnt all that big.

Monitor the RAM usage, if it's staying on 7800-7900 MB, then the RAM is not enough. If it's staying below that, I dont think it's RAM problem. Also you can have that performance because if I'm not mistaken you are on laptop, so the laptop can overheat or some sort of performance limitation.

If you have Nvidia geforce experience that can lock the fps on laptops to prevent them from overheating or to save battery. Check that and report back.

The best way to monitor the RAM and othe stuff is with MSi afterburner and rivatuner. Please report the GPU Usage, GPU Temperatures, GPU Clocks and RAM Usage.

i have an single channel ram and I heard that it can cause performance issue and if u have dual channel then it will be better is that correct?

cpu usage is 70-90

gpu usage is 90-100

gpu terperature is 59

gpu core clock is 1493 mhz

gpu memory clock is 3504 mhz

the ram usage is 90 percent

Sounds like a ram problem. Can’t say frames will double but I’m sure they will move, even with that card.

Having the same issue myself, speed seems to effect me more then speed right now though.

Idk don’t have that hardware. So can’t say it’s correct. If you seen it somewhere and currently have an issue, just do it aready.

Yea if the game is cpu dependent. A stronger cpu will be better.

Dual memory is always gonna be better, because you have more memory bandwidth (aka data transfer). Sound like memory problem to me as Mick Naughty told you, also what's the CPU boost? Does it boost to 3.4 GHz?

That CPU will not boost to 3.5ghz in any multi-threaded game.  I have an i5-7300hq+1050 Ti laptop, the CPU will limit performance in many games by a small amount as max 4 core boost is 3.1ghz  If the CPU was better you might expect 30 FPS or so on ultra.

On a desktop, with a desktop 1050 Ti, and much faster CPU (4.5ghz) you would expect 30-40 FPS on highest settings.  On high FPS would be 40-60. on medium it would be 60-70. and low is pegged at ~75 all the time.

I researched that with 16 gb of ram with the specs I have is able to run most of the games on ultra with 50-60 fps

Do you have geforce experience? If yes, remove it and try without it and report. Also your gpu is appearing to not boost to it's max limit. Gtx 1050ti should boost to something like 1900-2000 MHz, but I'm not laptop specialist.

Laptop GTX 1050 Ti will only boost to 1900 with a large overclock.  I think my laptop, at default, boosts to something like 1750.

where did you find the info where my laptop gpu is not at the max?

They were just looking at the "GPU clock" you posted.  GPU clockspeeds will go ~200 over what they are set to because of boost/turbo.  When overclocking your GPU it is useful to have something like the GPU-Z PCIe test running to see exactly how far the GPU is boosting.

Was just digging around, FH3 performs poorly on 4c/4t CPUs.  Lots of stuttering and FPS drops to the 30's or 40's even with a GTX 1080.

It seems like performance is more consistent if you use a 30fps lock in the menu.  Medium settings were also recommended.
