Internet data cap

I have been messing about in glasswire on my phone wich i use for keeping track of my data usage for my mobile data plan.

I found my wifi data usage and was a bit shocked.

So just out of curiousity, do you have a datacap on your home internet? If yes, how much?

Only internet via the cable or fiber. Not a dataplan on your phone.

depends on your home internet provider. some do.

As you might have noticed we dont have a cap on our fiber line so i was just curious how other countrys/providers deal with this

Comcast, AT&T* and a few other providers in the US have 1TB or 100GB data caps, depending on the speed tier you go with. My provider doesn't have a cap (thankfully).

 

*AT&T will remove the cap if you bundle TV with your plan -OR- if you go with their fiber plan, if it's available.

I do with Comcast. 1 TB is the cap. Or you can pay $50 on top of what you pay for unlimited.

varies by provider an what you signed up for.

AT&T has a 250 Gig cap on is aDSL service, though this service is so shitty you cant push that much data anyway. AT&T Uverse (Fiber to the Node) has a 1 TB cap. As noted above if you bundle other services AT&T will remove the cap. Comcast like stated above is 1 TB, with $10 for every 50 Gigs over. Though Comcast doesn't cap all areas in the US, it really depends on competition as in if they have good competition then they generally dont cap. Satellite internet here in the US has daily and monthly caps. Cellular data has a cap on unlimited plans for when they start throttling you, T Mobile lets you use up to 50 Gigs before they "Deprioritize" your data. 

 

Ill be honest most people dont understand caps, as they dont know they are capped. Though the average intelligence of an American an dropped sharply is the last little while. So even if its written in big bold letters they would still miss it.

Im not so shure i could live with a plan like that.

I use on average 90gb of data on my phone alone.

My phone plan is unlimited but speed is throttled at 10 GB per month .  My ISP on the other hand offers a gigabit plan that has unlimited data. Priot\r to that they had 100 GB plan plus 5$ per each 5 GB over the last you used. (so  at 107 GB you pay the base +$10)
