Hi there,

i just found an old Samsung 840EVO SSD in my hardware bin and I'd like to give it a new life!

So i connected it to my surface tablet (only PC I have) via an USB to SATA and it showed up fine except for being partioned to two partions..

I than wiped out the windows harddrive tool thing (sry I'm german, I don't know all the english names) and in there I deleted one partition and tried to expand the other one. But windows told me that it's not supported on this device and no matter what I tried, it didnt let me recreate the full capacity of the drive.. I DL Paragon but the free version doesn't support it.

Now I need your help, which nifty programs are out there that can help me restore my drive?

The dirve works perfectly but I can get rid of the 2-Partition-Problem..

Cheers and ty in advance

Stefan

Hi @smulutz

Check in diskmanager if 1 partition is showing up and that another is "unallocated". If it part doesnt rightclick second partition and click "delete partition". From here you can also extend the first partition by rightclicking it and click at "expand partition''. As seen in picture below. (Printscreen is in dutch and option is crayed out right now because there isnt unallocated space at the drive)

Edit: if this doesnt work then you can try using a linux live cd with gparded or something similar. As Windows buildin partitiontools arent so great. I dont know how good your Linux skills are though.

How big is each partition? Although technically it shouldn't prevent you from using it, it could be space claimed for overprovisioning.

update the drive firmware first using samsung magician

thanks but the magician doesn't detect the drive as an ssd and says it isn't supported.
