So i currently have an i7 4890k (since 4years) and a Gtx 1080 with 16Gb Ram 1600Mhz. I'm having an issue where I get perferomance drop in alot of games I play. recently Farcry 5 it gets unplayable when fps drop from 100 to 40... I asked elsewhere about suggestion and everyone says My CPU is holding behind the 1080, or Ram is too slow. What do you guys think? Does an i7 4790k bottleneck a gtx 1080? And would the i7 8700k be a good upgrade if so. Thanks in advance.

the 4890k is still pretty good, but the RAM speed seems to be the issue.

Why would it be ram speed? As long as the timings are not loose it should be fine.
