Hello, I dont wanna explain this whole situation. So I'm just gonna ask the question straight away - How can I see what is new in a bios version, more in depth?

For example, I downloaded the f9b version (https://www.gigabyte.com/se/Motherboard/GA-Z270-Gaming-K3-rev-10#support-dl)

back in January. Now I can see that it's been last updated at mars 9th. I was wondering where I can read what they changed.

-Thanks

I don't think they list the changelog. Some companies like Asrock will say what certain versions do, like add support for upcoming CPUs, but that's the closest thing I've seen to a changeloc for a BIOS revision.

Ah that sucks, because I do have a problem with the current f9b version. But I dont know if the latest, that they have released will fix it or not... And bios updates isnt something I wanna do...

They usually have a basic description of changes (improved compatibility, new cpu line, agesa, etc) but they don't usually list an in depth list

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case

They used the same desciption, for the first f9b and this version.

F9b is actually a beta bios. You're fairly likely to have issues with beta firmware. Just revert back to f8 until a new release bios is outted.

You don't need to be afraid of bios updates. They're designed to be as safe as possible. Motherboard makers definitely don't want massive amounts of RMA's when they release an update. It's part if the normal operation of the hardware. Plus, it's easier than ever, with built-in utilities now. And if i recall that board has dual bios chips, so if something happens to go wrong it will still work.

I dont wanna revert to F8 because that version does not have a patch for spectre.

I have a GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 and basically had the same change. What happened was Intel revised their fix to the spectre fix because the previous fix had some issues in certain conditions. I am trying to find when the news was released.

Yea, motherboard manufactures are extremely vague on BIOS version change logs.. heck they are super vague on the BIOS/UEFI menu item and no description, not even in the manual (ok it is better in the recent years, but still an issue).

It is like they are scared that if they say "We fixed this, we fixed that", that they'll see themselves as motherboard manufacture filled with bugs and issues, and no one will buy their boards. And they properly don't want people to pay attention to issues fixed, which might impact other things and start complaining about for them to fix that, while they would have not noticed otherwise. Perhaps even it might be as simple that they don't want to tackle with the transaction, or a combination of mentioned things.
