Mic won't work

Zusher

So I have this headset with a built in mic and the headset has one cord, when I plug it into to the mic hole mic works but no audio vice versa. How do I have audio and use mic WITHOUT a splitter

Best,

Zusher

You need to plug it into what's called a combo jack, which is just like a normal 3.5mm audio jack but will carry both audio input and output.

You probably need something like this.

If you're interested in a product please download and read the manual first.

Yeah, that's what I'm referring to. That single cable is meant to plug into a combo jack, which will let you use both your mic and headphones. However, very few desktops have those.

If you want to use both your mic and hear audio at the same time, you will need a splitter of some kind.

Most laptops use combo jacks to save space but desktops with a proper MOBO usually separate them to improve the usefulness of mic/headphones.

Also its not really very many cables its usually no more than 1/2 foot long and will mostly be hidden behind your pc.
