How many cores does Photoshop use?

Hi I was wondering if anyone could help. I would like to know generally how many cores does Photoshop use? I have done some research and some people say only one or some say multiple does it just vary? Also which would be better for the purpose Ryzen 2 when it comes out or Intels coffee lake? I know a good SSD and fast ram would help as well.

photoshop is multicore capable but it depends what you are doing with it, some filters etc can only use 1 core, some can use all of them. so it all depends on the use can, but it will pretty much use whatever it can whenever it can.
