Just to Put it into Perspective

My TZ77A motherboard needed to be RMA'd  so I'm back to using my E4700 for a while.

People always ask how much of a difference in games is there between the mid-high end processors of today and of many generations before.

this is with my GTX 480 and i5 2500K/ core 2 duo e4700.

In nearly all games with my i5 2500K the gpu usage would go to 100% with the cpu usage typically at 50% or below, with a few games that made the processor go near or to 100% cpu usage.

In nearly all games with my Core 2 Duo E4700 the gpu usage stays below 20% no matter what setting I use,and the the cpu usage is almost always at 100%

By nearly all games I mean games like AC3,Crysis 3, and Dota 2

I always knew there was a giant difference between the two processors, but since I'd never taken the same graphics card from one system to another it was difficult to imagine how large of a difference there actually is.

I bet someone couldn't tell the difference between my old e8400 at 4ghz on stock volts and my 4770k in casual use if they both had an SSD.

The new games? Well that is another story. :)

Dat e8400 was pretty damn fast in games for a long time and it can still run most of the single player titles.

I would like to see a e8400 at 4ghz  with ddr 800 go up against a AMD 8350 and 1866 ram in a mostly 2 core game (which a lot of single player games are). I think that damned e8400 might come out ahead with it's floating point. Has nothing on Sandy and up of course, but it wasn't slow at all.
