Posted March 30, 2018 Are you unsatisfied with current temperatures? If so, what temps, cooler and overclock? If you're not unsatisfied with it, there's no reason to do it. I did it because I knew it would yield an improvement in temps, but the chips still run fine and within spec with the stock paste. Not to mention you lose anything that even resembles a warranty if you do it. Posted March 30, 2018 If you plan to push higher overclocks and/or you want lower temperatures, go for it. Get yourself familiar with the process of delidding tho, It's not simple. Posted March 30, 2018 Wrong section btw. Are temps to high and the most reasonable course of action to delid (ramping up fan curves, upgrading cooler etc less reasonable)? Are you looking to max overclock and either already have or plan to acquire great overclocking hardware? If not, then no. If kinda, then maybe delidding but using less-hassle non electrically conductive TIM. If yes, go for it. Posted March 30, 2018 If temperatures are too high and you want to overclock it heavily, then delid. If your silicon lottery is bad, then delid. But if temperatures are good under load and at idle, I say don't even bother.
