Hi, this is my first post so I hope I followed proper procedure.

I have an interest in making a new gaming/streaming PC.

I wanted to look for the best bang for my dollar I could get. Figured I could get all of your opinions about my possible build. It's not my first build so I'm good there. Also wanted it tiny but looks good. I wanted a small 1070 hybrid but they don't have a small one also the price is to much so I gave in for a single fan GPU.

CPU: Intel - Core i7-8700K 3.7GHz 6-Core Processor  ($347.79 @ OutletPC)

CPU Cooler: Corsair - H60 54.0 CFM

LiquidCPU Cooler  ($49.99 @ Newegg)

Motherboard: ASRock - Fatal1ty Z370 Gaming-ITX/ac Mini ITX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($173.98 @ Newegg)

For Gaming/Streaming i would go with 2x 8GB ram sticks. Your motherboard can only have 2 of them, and with streaming AND gaming on a same PC - you'll need that.

Check my list, based on yours. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fJxxGG

The case is has pretty much zero airflow. Change it.

Get a air cooler, and a ATX PSU.

Some "improvements":

  • A good air cooler instead of the H60. Similar performance but less expensive.
  • 2x8GB memory kit instead of 2x4GB. Otherwise, go with a 1x8GB memory kit so that it can be upgraded without replacement later.
  • MX500 is a well performing ssd and less expensive than the Samsung 860 Evo.
  • A slightly better performing gpu. If another US$50 or so is available, you might consider a GTX 1070 Ti.
  • A better psu with 7 year warranty.
  • A rear fan to improve airflow since the H60 is not in the build.

1. I want the smallest case for a mini itx that doesn't sacrifices looks

2. I really want the CPU to be hybrid cooled. So an affordable option in replacement of what I was looking at would be great.Thought the hybrid would mitigate the heat build up. Also keeps it clean.

3. I was thinking 2x8GB didn't realize I had the 2x4GB

I don't want to rely on a air cooling method. Without trying an actual water cooled loop.

I want to benefit from the double ram speeds so I'll probably stick to what I have in that reguard but thanks for the other suggestions.

What do you mean by "double ram speeds"?

I do suggest using a dual channel memory kit, just a larger one.

Dual channel memory operation?

Yeah. It's a clever thing I learned from another forum. It double my ram speed. Of course I might not be saying that is  correct but I watched my ram speed go from 1300 per chip to 2600 per chip.

Thank you all for your suggestions and after many hours of research I have confidently reworked my build.

CPU: Intel - Core i7-8700K 3.7GHz 6-Core Processor  ($347.79 @ OutletPC)
CPU Cooler: NZXT - Kraken X52 Rev 2 73.1 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($130.95 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: ASRock - Fatal1ty Z370 Gaming-ITX/ac Mini ITX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($173.98 @ Newegg)
Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory  ($199.89 @ OutletPC)
Storage: Samsung - 860 Evo 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($144.89 @ OutletPC)
Storage: Seagate - Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($59.79 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: MSI - GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Video Card  ($579.89 @ OutletPC)
Case: NZXT - H200i (White/Black) Mini ITX Tower Case  ($124.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G2 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($69.89 @ OutletPC)
Total: $1832.05

I changed the case from the Ethoo to the H200i. The H200i looks pretty and the black/white case screams "I'm a beast, but let's not talk about me". I chose the Kraken x52 due to its low db rating and with the final choice of case in mind. I gave in after RAM came into question from 8GB to 16GB. However I want to populate both slots to gain the benefit of using the XMP for RAM OC. Learned from Linus!

This might be consider as a "negligible" gain but I like tweaking as much as I can. Also the Vengance LPX is white; which plays into the two tone thing I was going for. Storage changed from one 1TB SSD to a 500GB SSD for my OS and a 2TB HDD. I currently have a storage issue on my current rig and would like this to be solved when I get this one running. I chose the GPU based off of its white/black two toned look as well as its price point. The PSU is the last real change from a Silverstone to a EVGA.

I feel confident from all your suggestions to my own research that this is my very best shot at a great PC. Giving me far more years than the current build I have now. All I will have to consider is a bridge from this rig being the "Gaming" to my current rig as the "Streaming" PC.

All left to do now is the save up the $2000 to purchase all components! THANKS GUYS AND GALS!!! You helped a ton!
