I'm a poor lad with no money, and Windows Movie Maker is long gone, I am in need of an editing platform.

Blender is something to look at - all the other FOSS ones seem to lack lots of stuff.

 

Oh - and BTW you can still get an older version of movie maker online.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

 

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

Resolve is good for color grading but for editing and compositing I highly recommend Hitfilm Express: http://hitfilm.com/

A couple weeks ago i started using it because I wanted to edit and only was used to Indies Movie Maker.

The content bin system takes a min. to take used to, but after you understand it; you're fine in the software.

I don't know much of editing, but Resolve is MUCH easier to learn than Blender. I have tried Hitfilm, but that seems too much flashy-selly-selly -type for my taste.
