Thoughts appreciated on the below build.

Looking at pairing it with a EVGA 1060 6GB Superclocked when i can find one at a sensible price.

Will used for general use as well as some gaming.

Do you suggest using a WD Black or will a WD Blue be ok considering I will be using it with an SSD?

Thanks

Blue will be cheaper and for the most part you wont notice any difference, black are meant to be slightly better for performance but to be honest, ive never noticed any differences when running games / anything from my mechanical drives in the past.

I suggest Black if you have a big budget. Blue is just a little slower. Good luck!

a wd blue will work just fine, no need to shell out for a black. but i'd recommend getting a cheaper SSD, psu or case for a better mobo/cooler and more ram.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

Blacks are meant for slightly higher workloads, have higher RPMs and have longer warranties. Other than that they have no benefit over a blue of the same RPM, and even a 5400RPM will not be significantly slower than a 7200 for most file load times. ( I believe this is the only 7200 RPM blue drive https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Y4W9TW/western-digital-internal-hard-drive-wd10ealx)

One thing to note though is the blacks are louder (I own two of them, I'd know ;) )
