First Build - Any Tips Appreciated

I'm working on my first build, and I was hoping to get some tips and advice on what I have so far. Please let me know if there are any compatibility issues; I tried to verify against the MOBO QVL when possible.

 

  1. Budget & Location: ~3,500 USD (not including monitor and not set in stone); North Carolina (USA)
  2. Purpose: The rig is primarily going to be for gaming with OK "future-proofing." Plan to get additional storage, but not initially (hence the 512GB M.2).
  3. Monitor(s): Leaning toward a 27" 144hz 2560x1440 monitor. Any recommendations would be appreciated. The monitor is not included in the above budget. Will most likely move to a two-monitor set-up in the future.
  4. Peripherals: n/a
  5. Why are you upgrading? My current PC is a potato.

Yeah looks perfect to me, if you want to spend the time and effort, get a custom loop, it'd cost an extra ~$500-~$700 depending on if you did cpu or gpu or both, and would require some maintenance, but it'd produce sick af temps and look sexy :P

Solid build to me. You could swap out the cooler with the NZXT one because it looks cooler

Are you planning on reusing the HDD from your current PC? Because you only have the 960 SSD. I'd definitely recommend mechanical HDD for mass storage. Use the one you have if you can. If it's old or is super slow, you can always go get a new one. on the $$$ side, I like WD Black for performance, otherwise, any main brand HDD would suffice. I would stick to Seagate or WD and stay away from Hitachi or anything else.

Thanks for the storage ideas! I do plan on buying instead of reusing, so I'll keep you ideas in mind.
