A benchmarking software master list?

The standard ones are at least:

CPU Tests

  • Cinebench R15
  • AIDA 64

Storage Tests

  • HDTune
  • CrystalDisk Mark

GPU Tests

  • 3DMark Cloud Gate, Fire Strike, and Time Spy
  • Unigine Heaven and Superposition

Additional tests really depends on the website and how much they think it's important to test certain use-cases of the hardware.

What information will a storage test give me outside the size of the HD?

  • Sequential reads and writes (best case scenario)
  • Random 4K reads and writes (worst case scenario
    • This is not only useful for the bandwidth the drive is capable of in the worst case scenario, but it's input/output operations per second (IOPS) count. IOPS is useful to know how responsive the drive is.

HDTune seems to vary the size of the test data so you can get a better picture of the drive's performance.

I got my software list in my blog. Can't link now, but it's somewhere in these forums blog section. One of the gaming ones has newer version, but rest remain same.
